Weather

Today has started out nice and bright. Max temperature predicted to be 18C

Barcelona yesterday was grey and driech in the morning but it brightened up through the day. I went out late (after mid-day) so I didn’t encounter any rain. I wore my GB Masters weatherproof. It did start to get a little bit chilly as the sun went down, late afternoon.

I had 6 and a quarter hour’s sleep and my body battery is quite low at 68% and by evening it had dropped to 29%.

My plan for today was to visit Park Güell and Montjuic..

Park Güell

I booked my ticket for Park Güell on-line before I left the hotel. I got an e-mail with a QR code which would provide access to the park. I chose an entry time of 12:30. I was half an hour early but they let me in anyway.

I left the hotel and walked for about 5 min, 300 m to Bogatell Metro L4 (direction Trinitad Nova)

(8 stops) to Joanic and then walked for 2 mins and to get the V19 Bus at Pi i Margall - Pl Joanic for a 12 min (7 stops) ride up to the park. There was a strange one-way system which had to be adhered to in the park, I might do a bit of research on that. I had to do the same loop twice because I went through a gate and they wouldn't let me return through the gate! The queue at the café was 15 minutes. All I wanted was water.

Park Güell to Montjuic

From Park Güell Walk I walked for about 14 min, 1.0 km to Lesseps Subway L3 Zona Universitària

Ride for 11 min (7 stops) to Paral·lel and take the funicular.

I actually bought a funicular ticket on line while I was waiting for my connection. Just made it! A round trip is 15 euros, buying online saved me 10%

Montjuic Castle

The castle was worth a visit. It was 12 euros plus 3 euros for an English Language audio guide. I took a lot of photos on this stage of the trip. Quite a few with my finger over the lens. It was a bit of a palaver trying to listen to the audio guide, look at the map, carry my coat and my bottle of water. As, I say, it was worth it.

I have to pack this evening and be ready to leave early in the morning.

 Montjuic to home

I descended on the teleferic. As with the ascent, the descent is in two parts. There is the cable car ride and also a funicular ride (which is classed as a metro line) which links the cable car stop with the metro proper at Paral-lel. I got Metro L3 from Paral-lel to Catalunya and switched to the L1 to Marina. I stopped at a greasy spoon café spoon cafe between Marina metro station and the hotel.
